What gets left out of the conversation
The whole discussion is about getting them lit. Which makes sense, because that is the visible part. But the season ends, and then there is a second job nobody scheduled. The people who asked the question up front have a much better January than the people who did not.Which is a shame, because January is where the difference between companies actually shows. Anybody can put a display up. The question is whether anyone comes back. That question is worth asking before you book, not after the season ends.
The self service version
The takedown is the unpleasant half. Cold, dark by five, and nothing to look forward to. Then the strands get boxed and shoved somewhere, where they tangle, get crushed, and lose a section by next November.
How it should work instead
Takedown belongs in the original agreement. At the end of the season the crew comes back and removes the display. Everything gets labeled and put away properly, instead of living in your attic. You never handle any of it.
Why storage matters more than it sounds
Three things come out of somebody else storing it. Your attic stays empty, which matters if you have ever tried to find anything up there. The lights do not degrade in a hot attic, because they are stored properly rather than compressed under something heavy. And because they are catalogued to your property, reinstall is faster and lands the same way it did last year.
The permanent alternative sidesteps all of it
The other option removes the takedown conversation entirely. Permanent lighting does not have a takedown. It costs more up front and it makes sense for households that never skip a season. But if the takedown conversation is the part you dread, it is worth asking about once.
The other question worth asking
Over a full season, something will eventually need a look. The question is what happens then. Service during the season is either included or it is not,
https://garretteftx238.urbanvellum.com/posts/permanent-outdoor-lighting-in-greenville-sc-a-local-guide-considering-permanent-outdoor-lighting-around-greenville-start-with-this and the quote should say which. Ask while you are still comparing companies, rather than the week you need it.
Year two is a phone call
The first season involves a design conversation, decisions and a plan. Once a display is designed and stored, the following year is scheduling. Next season comes down to picking a day. If you want it expanded or trimmed back, that is a conversation, not a redesign.
Nail this down first
Get it in writing: is the takedown part of this number. Ask who owns the materials, because that decides where they end up. Ask roughly when in January the crew comes. EverCrest Lighting handles takedown and off season storage on holiday lighting, and installs permanent LED systems for anyone finished with the yearly cycle, for homes and businesses across Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina, based in Greenville.
